Doing your research in tech

One of the most important things you should do before deciding to get into tech is research. It is one thing that is very little talked about but it will save you time and money in the end. When I decided to get into to tech 4 years ago I knew cloud computing was going to be a hot field even though nobody really knew what it was at the time. I learned this from countless days and nights of research on what the top IT certifications were and what technologies employers would be looking to use. Even though I took the traditional route into tech by getting my Comptia A+ certification and starting at the help desk, I always kept my studies focused on learning the cloud. While I was at my third help desk job I got 2 AWS certifications and then the pandemic hit. Because I did my research from the beginning I was prepared and didn't waste any time going in circles trying to figure out what I wanted to do in tech. The cloud adoption sped up big time during the pandemic and now those AWS jobs were in high demand and I was already certified. I have seen so many people waste time, money and ultimately not get the job they want because they haven't done any research. These research skills will also be used when you do get hired because nobody knows all the answers but the ones that know how to find it will succeed.
